With the advancing times, many new career options have sprung up. Now you have a variety of career choices to choose from. B.Tech is one such good career option that you can take up. But most of the students are not able to decide whether to do a job after B.Tech or go in for higher studies. Read on to get guidance on what to do after B.Tech.
After doing B.Tech you have two options. If you are economically well-off and doing a job is not a compulsion then it is better to take up further studies. This will help you get a better-paid job later on. Moreover, a specialization will give you an edge over other candidates applying for the same job.
If you want to pursue higher studies after B.Tech, one option is to do Post graduate courses like M.S/ M.Tech, IAS/IPS, Navy/NDA and Finance related courses like MBA and then obtain a Ph.D. If you can afford to study abroad then you can also opt for M.S. You will have to take GRE/TOEFL for doing M.S outside India. The percentile scored in GRE will help you get admission in M.S. abroad. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted annually by one of the seven Indian Institutes of Technology for admission to M.Tech and M.S. programmes in most engineering institutes in India. You need to have at least a B.Tech, BE, B. Arch. or Ma Sc. degree to be eligible for the test.
If you are interested in doing post graduation in some course related to finance then you can go in for an MBA. You can take GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) for taking admission to a good business school. GMAT is one of the decisive factors for taking admission in MBA. It is better if you have work experience, good grades in previous examinations and recommendation letters.
CAT (Common Admission Test) is another test conducted by IIMs in India for getting admission to various IIMs present in India. After doing B.Tech you can also go in for the Indian Civil Service exams.
The job opportunities after B.Tech are also good. You can enter the software industry according to your specialization provided you possess good communication skills too. It is better to get job in a company through campus placements as it is difficult to get job after you are out of the college. You can also do job for sometime after completing B.Tech and then start studying for your P.G course.
If you have good financial resources, you can also start your own company. You can also do job as a lecturer in some engineering college or work in a call center.
Therefore you can see that it is up to you to decide what you want to do after B.Tech. You can weigh all the options and choose what is best for you.
