The term Data Sufficiency refers to one of two formats used for GMAT Quantitative questions. These questions measure the candidate's potential and proficiency in the same principles and areas of Math that are measured by the GMAT problem solving questions.
In this section you will find the questions consist of a question followed by two statements. Your work is to decide whether the information in the statements is sufficient to answer the question whether we take it singly or together, And these questions doesn’t  require much calculations what we need in standard problem solving section, In this section we need to evaluate rather than calculate.

Data sufficiency which is about one-third of the quantitative questions which is prepared to test your skills how you answer any question only with in range of given information. These questions are not like other regular test problems, in what you've to answer the given statement or question. Instead of that regular questions it asks you to determine whether you can answer the question or not only  with the given information.

Data Sufficiency is different from the problem solving section and other sections which tests your ability to manipulate numbers. This sections of the GMAT is mostly considered as more difficult than the other common math problems of the test. For this you should have enough math knowledge to complete these types of  mathematical problems, where this section can also help you to take more score in your GMAT. To prepare for this section and to complete this section you really need patience and persistence. Practice which is the main key of the GMAT here also helps you to get succeed in this section also.

During the Test you should take care of some parts while answering any of the question :

  • You should take a relax of at least a minute before you start with data sufficiency section of the GMAT. And get your self ready that you have gone through the test and you're ready to go with the answers.
  • You need to wake up when you read the questions, this really need your mind awake and you need to go through the questions carefully with only the given information. Mostly it happens students assume the information, what is very easy to assume that is not included in the question, this really make them to go with mistakes.
  • To solve the questions quickly in this section you should eliminate the wrong answers. As you delete the answers that are actually not sufficient, you will back with some choices, and what will really help you to choose the right one.
  • You should read and examine each of the statements individually. After examine with  yourself check if both of them are sufficient to solve the given problem or  you need to use them together to find the answer.

Here in this section all of the data sufficiency questions can be answered by working with the same technique. Simply by determining the perfection of just one statement, you should be able to remove or delete approximately half of the other choices. That way, you should be able to selct the correct one and will be able to avoid random guessing.

Most of the students finds Data Sufficiency problems much more difficult than the other Standard Math problems. Where the mathematical knowledge and skills are highly required to solve Data Sufficiency problems is no bigger than that required to solve standard math problems. What really makes Data Sufficiency problems appear difficult at the first. But once you get familiar with the all these directions and statements, you will be able to find the answers quickly and you will feel these problems are not mich harder than standard math problems. In fact, with the help of practice students get proficient and answer more quickly of Data Sufficiency problems.
