GMAT one of the most popular standardized test, for students who are looking to get admission in top Business Schools of the world. This test is divided in to three sections :- Basic Verbal, Qualitative, and Analytical Writing. And further Basic Verbal has its three sections follwed by :- Sentence Correction, Reading Comprehension and Critical Reasoning. These all three all togather makes a set of 41 questions which are need to be done in 75 minutes, Where total time allotted for GMAT test is approximately 210 minutes which comes about 3.5 hours.
Reading Comprehension belongs to one of three basic question section of the GMAT Verbal Ability section. Which contains 14-15 questions what are need to be done in 75 minutes in total along with other two parts – Sentence Correction and Critical Reasoning. In this Reading Comprehension section questions are in the form of brief passage what are followed by some 4-5 questions, And the passage contains the words ranging from 150 to 325, And each question contains five options, from what you need to selct one of them by selcting or clicking on a oval. This section is added to check the ability of a candidate who has applied for GMAT how carefully and accurately he/she read, how they determine the relationships among the differnet parts of the passage, and to how effectively they draw reasonable inferences from the passage.
The most common type of passages can be seen in the Verbal section are :-
- The passages what are related to biology, chemistry, and medicine.
- The passages contains the some of the topics like history, politics, and geography.
- The passage related to the Business.
Reading Comprehension questions measure the potential and ability of a candidate how they understand, analyze, and apply information and concepts in written form. GMAT’s each and every passage what comes under Reading Comprehenshion ares followed by somes of the questions based on the content of the passage. So for that candidate should read the passage carefully and find out the best and meaningful answer for each question. The answers are should be on the basis of passage what is stated or implied in the passage.
This section is added to GMAT to find out or evaluate the following ability and potential of a cnadidate :
- How they Understand the passage and other statements and words what are mentioned in the given passage. This helps to find out how easily a candidate can understand english.
- How they makes the relationship in the idea of a passage and the mail points what are mentioned in the given passages, what are here to ask you to find out the strongest and weakest point of the argument and what is the concept of the passage.
- How they take the conclusions from the points, facts and statements mentioned in the given passgae.
Now the question comes how soon you can improve your reading comprehension and how, At First, you should select a topic about what you have good knowledge and you have a huge interest in the same, As if you selct that as first about what you know a lot and you have good understanding about that what really gonna help you to make it work for this section. And Second you need to compile a list of resources related to your favourite topic. Try to get and read as many newspaper articles, essays, research reports and other as much as you can, Maintain and fix some time from your daily schedule for reading.
Practice, practice, practice. This is something what shouls be the mail goal of any student who is preparing for the GMAT. Any one should not expect to become a pilot just by reading the few papers, magazine articles and watching a few plan functionality on TV.
